All about Preschool Graduation Gowns and Caps

All students feel quite proud when they finish a certain level of education and wear the regal graduation stole as they receive their degree. There is nothing finer than that moment when the graduate goes up to the stage to receive his diploma, dressed in regal-looking garb. Wearing the gown, the graduation cords and the cap at a preschool graduation or a college graduation is a very great moment for the student.

Gathering as One, Dressed as One

The graduation gown and caps usually have to be in uniform colour and style for an entire batch of graduating students. This symbolizes convocation, which means coming together or assembling together because of a special purpose. A graduation is indeed a special purpose, and while the many graduates all represent the different degree programs offered by the school they nonetheless become unified during the graduation ceremony itself as shown by their wearing the same attire. This “unity” in garb is also a symbol of cooperation and commitment, meant to touch the hearts of the alumni whom much credit is owed to for different scholarship programs offered by the school. Any alumni who is able to witness a graduation will certainly be as proud as the graduates themselves, often wishing he could join that sea of students dressed in the finest gowns for that special day.

The Materials Used for the Attire

The graduation caps and gowns certainly look very nice, looking more expensive than it actually is. The material that is used to make these gowns vary – usually, it depends on the kind of climate where a particular university is located. Warm and balmy weather means lighter fabrics, while learning institutions that are located in colder climates usually issue thick and heavy gowns designed to keep the graduates warm and cozy during the entire ceremony. While they look very expensive, they are easy to come by. You can actually rent the graduation attire, which is a good move if you are saving money or if you know it is just going to gather dust in your home.

Most schools offer rentals for these graduation gowns, but there are also some that allow their students to keep their caps and the matching tassel as their souvenirs of that very special day. Most of the newer ones are fashioned out of acetate and also knit polyester, while some still use woven polyester. The tassel is considered as a very important symbol because it shows a marking of the year when a student graduates. Usually, there is a metal piece hanging from the tassel with the year or even the date of the graduation etched on it.

Clearly, these graduation attire are very important aspects of the convocation called the graduation. It stems all the way from the ancient times and is still as important now like it was back then. While in the past they had to wear it every day, the change is that now they only need to wear it on that special day when they graduate.
